Operation Resilience and Compassion

Racing For Heroes (RFH) is raising money to assist humanitarian relief efforts in Afghanistan alongside selected and vetted partners.

The events in Kabul and across Afghanistan have plunged the country into a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented scale over the past days and weeks. It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons are at risk of oppression by the Taliban and desperately need assistance as winter approaches, despite NATO's extraordinary efforts and some civilians who have been assisting in the effort.

These refugees and IDPs need safety and security, shelter, medication, and basic life support to survive the harsh Afghan winter. The continuing pandemic further compounds their plight with a woefully inadequate health care system. In a country among the lowest rates of COVID-19 vaccination globally, the prospects of these groups receiving even a single dose of a vaccine are vanishingly low.

The window of opportunity to effectively help is closing rapidly, but we can impact if we act now. On-the-ground support is needed to help establish air bridges and supply chains to ensure medical supplies, food, and shelter can reach refugee camps. Further, efforts to facilitate the safe recovery of at-risk individuals and families who did not manage to escape to safety earlier.

Racing For Heroes believe that it would be immoral not to act in the face of the threats faced by these Afghan people, and this page was created to raise money to support:

  - Humanitarian relief efforts (winter is coming; food, shelter, medication, vaccines, and medical support are sorely needed)

  - Refugee recovery (for at-risk Afghans hunted by the Taliban)

  - Children’s education

  - Minority rights (employment and education for women, children, and minorities)

The money will go to Racing For Heroes, a 501(c)3 nonprofit located in Alton, Virginia, founded by US Army Special Forces veterans. Specifically, this funding will be earmarked for the Community Engagement Program within Racing For Heroes as the most appropriate location for the funds' expenditure to support the efforts in line with the above. RFH will make grants to organizations that are supporting our efforts to enable peace and stability. Administrative costs associated with this program will be below 5%.
