I hope you’re doing well during these difficult times. In the past few weeks, we have seen a global health crisis reshape our lives in ways many of us could never have imagined. As you may know, Pablo’s son Axel requires a high level of specialized medical care and prescriptions to survive and thrive; medical care that has become impossible for he and his family to afford (even working full-time) with the effects of COVID-19 ravaging the Mexican economy. They have been drawing on their nearly depleted savings, but with no end to this pandemic in sight, we are starting to fear the worst. Compounding our fears is the fact that Axel’s esophageal atresia makes him predisposed to respiratory complications from this virus. Axel needs his family to take extra precautions right now, but they are not able to reliably afford gloves, N-95 masks, hand sanitizer, or disinfectants. Pablo and his wife are also in desperate need of assistance with mounting medical bills for Axel’s various medical procedures, supplies, and prescriptions. The last thing we want to do is ask for money from a friend who is also going through a tough time, but as Pablo puts it “I believe it’s my paternal responsibility to explore every possible avenue to save my son - to save Axel.” Every dollar makes a big difference.
