Opening up Nathan's World

As we move into Autism Awareness Month I would like to ask for your help. We need a drivable camper. My wish is for this young man.... Nathan is my youngest child of three and at 23 years old he has been very few places in this world. This is not because he does not want to go and see what the world, his challenge is rooted in his long list of diagnoses including but not limited to Autism, Depression, ADHD, MR and Panic Disorder. I am his full time care giver, guardian and shared living provider as well as his advocate. He is an amazing young man with many interests and who wants to be part of the world but who can also sometimes become very upset at any random moment requiring a safe space to retreat to immediately so that he can calm himself down. This makes air travel impossible as well as traveling by train or bus. He is best when we travel in a road vehicle. We live in Maine and have only done short day trips up to this point in his life. I would love to take him places he has dreamed of going for years like the Grand Canyon and Disney in Florida. Nathan has also recently indicated that he would like to see "America" as well as go to Zoo's and other wildlife centers. Having a drivable camper could make these things possible for Nathan while offering a safe space designed to meet his needs while traveling. I would love to open the world up for Nathan and see what it brings into meaning for him. April is Autism Awareness month and our hope is to spread awareness as we travel.
