Black-Owned Autism Treatment Center -Glenn Harrell

Hey Everyone! My name is Glenn Harrell, MBA, M.Ed., BCBA. I am a Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has spent the last 10 years working in Applied Behavior Analysis, providing direct therapy to people with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities. Over the years, I have delivered services in just about every setting (i.e., hospitals, schools, residential & outpatient treatment facilities, in-home, etc.) and have worked with people ages 18 months - 30+ years old. I have also been fortunate enough to provide behavior analytic services to Fortune 500 companies, Politicians, Doctors, Lawyers, Universities, and more!

After a turbulent year, I recognized that a change in my career was necessary. After years of witnessing a lack of diversity, high burnout/turnover rates, and low employee satisfaction within the field of ABA I made a sudden, yet intentional decision to leave my corporate job.  This lack of diversity motivated me to begin research on how I can improve diversity, equity, and inclusion. Over the years, I have learned how difficult it is to deliver high-quality care when working for large companies that place PROFITS over PEOPLE. As one of few Black behavior scientists in this field, I have witnessed firsthand how limiting & honestly dangerous therapy can be when there is no diversity amongst practitioners. You cannot treat the diverse nature of a disorder without diversity in service providers, experience, and treatment modalities.

This is why I VOW to pay it forward! Once my practice is up and running, I plan to offer clinical supervision for those seeking licensure, Continuing Education for those seeking to enhance their skills, and Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives that aid minorities interested in ABA and targets underprivileged communities, providing them with opportunities.

I started this GoFundMe page to raise the start-up capital needed for my private practice, and ultimately a center if the opportunity arises. I plan to use the money raised through this platform as opposed to banks loans and high-interest financing because I desire to place all of my focus on what truly matters the most...QUALITY THERAPY.

Although bank loans are an option, I prefer to build a company naturally.

I value my goal to build a company for the people, with the help of the people, so that the quality of service people receive is the ultimate best.

With the money raised, this is what I’ll be able to do:

1. File for LLC & Supporting Documents

2. Purchase 1 year of Professional Malpractice Insurance

3. Get Certified in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS - 2)

4. Purchase Assessment Kits (LAP-D, VB-MAPP, Vineland, etc.,)

5. Purchase Registered Agent services for 1 year

6. Website Development, Advertisement, Hiring, and Training

7. Capital for Commercial Space, Furniture, Materials, and Payroll.

Any penny helps. If you cannot donate, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE SHARE.

Thank you!

With love,

Glenn
