Indonesia Service Trip
Hello friends and family,
Todd, Kristy, and Abby Miller (Wyatt and Josie will be staying behind) are very excited to be joining a team from our church and heading to Indonesia this summer for twelve days. We’d love your prayers and support! We will be assisting a local church, ICA Surabaya, in its efforts to serve the needs of people in Indonesia.
ICA is involved in many ongoing projects in Surabaya and other parts of Indonesia. Our church, Open Life, is sending a team this coming July 2019, to help out with some of these projects. The beauty of this trip is that we’ll be joining ongoing efforts, that have started before we arrive and will continue after we leave. So we’ll be able to jump right in as extra hands, feet and hearts.
Disaster Relief
Within the past two years, the islands of Indonesia have been hit by multiple natural disasters. Tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions have taken quite a toll. Thousands of lives have been lost, homes have been destroyed and infrastructure has been decimated. For part of our trip, we will be assisting a Disaster Relief team from ICA that goes into spaces like this to survey the damage, help reconstruction efforts and care for the essential needs of those who are surviving.
Other Projects
Also, we will potentially be joining other ICA service projects, such as:
- Visiting Afghan refugees living in a nearby refugee camp
- Serving the needs of the homeless living in the sewers
- Caring for babies in a nearby orphanage
- Assist the youth living in the red light districts
On a more personal note...it’s important to us as a family that we support and serve our local community here at home. It's also important to us that we learn from, appreciate and serve those outside our community...and when the opportunity arises, outside our country as well. God’s love compels and motivates us to consider others, and we find it very exciting and rewarding to do so. We hope to instill this in our kids too, so it’s a joy that Abby will be joining us, and by extension Wyatt and Josie.
We need to raise about $2,500 per person...so a total of $7,500. We humbly ask for your financial support if you’re able and would greatly appreciate your prayers!
100% of all donations will go to the price of the trip; flights, food, lodging, transportation, supplies, insurance, visa. (Open Life will cover 100% of the fees associated with processing donations through the Go Fund Me platform. This means 100% of your donation goes to supporting us and not administrative fees)
