Oo-Oo-Nah Needs Help!

Tax deductible
Someone Stole from our Children's Art & Cultural Center! On June 14th, 2018 someone broke into our Art Center through the back door on Taos Pueblo and stole some of our jewelry-making equipment. Tribal police were called and a report was made. Our staff and students were heartbroken because we have been here since 1994 and we have never had a break-in.
The loss of our stone-cutting machine, grinder, acetylene tanks (4 of them and they were full), plus bracelet & ring mandrills (2 of each) will deprive our students of having a jewelry program this year. Most of our equipment has either been donated by wonderful donors over the years or purchased with grant money.  We don't get any funding from government - either Federal or Tribal so we are turning to You, the public for help in replacing this equipment. Please know that this equipment is essential to teaching young people how to  make jewelry and encourage them to become independent artists. Some of our past students have gone on to become wonderful jewelers/artists and create an entire self-sustaining careers for themselves.
Please know that whatever donation that you can make will be greatly appreciated for years to come. Thank you in advance for your generous help from everyone at the Oo-Oo-Nah Art & Cultural Center, especially the children.

Now People - To add insult to injury - Oo-Oo-Nah Art & Cultural Center has  suffered a lot of damage to the roof. We had this roof replaced in 2016 to the tune of about $20K. The company, Taos Sunrise Builders had to be called 4 times so that they could come out  to finish repairs or fix problems of their doing. Last weekend during the heavily gusting winds and some rain the roof over the studio pictured above was damaged and the staff ladies came in to find the roofing paper hanging over the side of the building. We got some heavy plastic sheeting to cover it and used large portions of tree trunks to secure the plastic down for now. We will have to get the roof repaired before winter sets in if we want to maintain the integrity of the building. The company has not responded to our calls, texts or has there been anyone at the office. It seems as if they are dodging us and it hurts to think that a company like this would do that to us and the children that this Center serves. Now we will have to use the money already donated to this gofundme campaign to help with repairs of the roof instead of the equipment that was stolen. Please continue to share this campaign with others so that we can take of these issues.  Thank you to all of you who have donated again and please ask your friends to help us too!
