One small step towards the Spero Clinic

I am raising money on behalf of my fiance, Andrew. He has been suffering for the last 3 years with his left leg/foot, having multiple surgeries before finding out a real diagnosis of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Since finding a pain management doctor, he has underwent multiple lumbar nerve blocks, many switches of pain medicine, and a trial (10/2019) and ultimately a spinal cord stimulator (12/2019) with little to no avail in his pain. When we met, he was still able to walk, occasionally with use of a cane. Now, he is unable to bear any weight on his left foot and his mobility is significantly decreased. His life is being stuck in our home going from the couch to the bed using crutches. Over the past few months, he has started having more frequent flare ups, causing him to be bedridden for days. My heart breaks seeing my best friend, whose favorite activities included traveling and hiking, suffer so greatly.

CRPS is known to be one of the most painful conditions on Earth. Also labeled "the suicide disease", it can take a long time to get diagnosed for the sheer fact that it is not easy to prove. "The symptoms don't match the injury" is what we were told the day he was diagnosed. Andrew also has a hereditary condition called Glomuvenous malformations (GVM), specifically one that is centered on the side of his left foot. He has had multiple surgeries thinking the pain was getting worse from these, but his last MRI showed that the GVM was mostly gone from his left foot, and this is how he was formerly diagnosed. The pain is said as "constant, 24/7, crushing, burning, stabbing, electric" and described as "feeling like your bones are being crushed or your limb is being dipped in boiling oil."

Recently, thanks to his best friend Mark, we have found the Spero Wellness Clinic in Fayetteville, AR, a clinic who specializes in CRPS. Dr. Katinka has founded the only program in the world that offers this specific pain relief treatment. With an 84% success rating, we are ecstatic that this could be an option to get a new lease at life and let him walk again.

While this is an amazing opportunity, it comes with a hefty price tag. The program ranges from 10-14 weeks, and averages $2,700-$3,000 per week, and that does not include the travel or the stay. It also is not covered by his insurance, and there are no payment plan options. His mom will be staying with him for the treatment since I have to continue to work and take care of our home. These funds will help with paying for food, a place to stay, and the treatment center itself.

Andrew is the most amazing guy, anyone who has met him will attest to that. He would give you the shirt off his back. Due to this condition, he has been unable to work for over a year and a half. Even after all of this, he still puts on a good face for me, his family, his friends, even when he is suffering constantly inside.

I hope you will consider donating to this, many people love him so much and want to see him well again.

(Also, if anyone would like to make a donation to Andrew for a tax deductible write off, you can make a donation in Andrew Roberge name to the Burning Limb Foundation, under the "Apply my donation to a specific recipient" option.) https://burninglimb.com/donate/

Thank you so much!
