I am hoping to raise funds to help my baby sister, Monica Ramos. I am reaching out to you- our families, friends and even strangers for help. She has suffered and lived with her illness for five years now. In addition to dealing with her health and every day matters she also has huge medical expenses that have skyrocketed and continue to do so. Insurance coverage is not enough and out of network medical fees, travel expenses, and monthly household expenses are overwhelming. Monica must travel to Arizona for a two week treatment; however, we need to get her there. Please help us! Thank you & God bless you
This is Monica's story.
My name is Monica Ramos. I am a private person who has only shared details of my health issues with close family & friends. My sisters have encouraged me to reach out and share my story with others and accept and embrace their kindness, generosity, love, and prayers.
I have been chronically ill for five years after a colonoscopy & course of antibiotics in 2012 damaged my intestines and entire digestive system function which then caused other multiple problems affecting my liver, thyroid, gallbladder, pancreas, hormone production, and absorption of nutrients. This has caused abnormal weight loss, nutritional deficiencies and extreme food intolerances . My normal, healthy weight was 105 & now I weigh 65 pounds. I have developed extreme food intolerances and can only tolerate three foods that I prepare and cook myself. I have lived like this for five years. I deal and manage my condition on a daily basis as I never know when sudden symptoms may occur.
I am being treated by a team of doctors which include a GI, nutritionist, ID doctor for Lyme disease, and Physical Therapist. I am overwhelmed by the monthly medical expenses and trying to make ends meet. I am also going to have an intensive treatment that is very expensive and my wonderful sisters (Margie, Melissa, & Myra) are trying to help me with the expenses.
One day at a time. As my dear mother would always say “Un dia ala vez”. I thank God for my life, my son, family and all of my blessings. I leave you with the serenity prayer that helps me get through each day.
