Robert Michael needs our help!

For those of you reading this that are not already aware, Robert was diagnosed less than two months ago with terminal cancer. He has stage four Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the right tonsil. This is a very rare & aggressive cancer with less than 100 documented cases. Because the growth of the cancer is in his throat, his doctors told him that surgery would cause further complications and would most likely cause the cancer to spread faster. The initial prognosis 2 months ago was 6-12 months. They advised that his best chances to extend his life are through aggressive radiation and chemotherapy, but they offered no hope that these treatments will cure him...only possibly extend his life by a few months. Robert is already in severe pain and can barely eat or swallow and it’s painful for him to talk. He has also gotten much weaker over the last month due to the fact that he is not getting enough nutrition and he is on extremely high doses of medication to help manage his pain. Even though he had been in pain and growing weaker, he continued to work as much as he could to provide for himself until about 4 weeks ago, but because his condition is worsening at a very rapid rate, he is no longer able to work.

News from his doctor's visit last week revealed that the tumor has doubled in size over the past month and if he doesn't start treatment immediately, his life expectancy is less than a few months. He has applied for medical financial aid, but that takes time to receive and will only benefit for procedures like the chemo and radiation which won't help him in the long run. Since this tumor is so aggressive, he is running out of time and needs to start a treatment ASAP. Time is NOT on his side!!

WE KNOW GOD IS IN CONTROL AND WE ARE PRAYING FOR HIS GUIDANCE AND MIRACLES ONLY HE CAN PROVIDE!

Regardless of the doctors prognosis, Robert is a fighter and has not given up hope!! Since radiation and chemotherapy are not options to cure Robert's cancer, prayerfully he has chosen to explore other options. Through much research over the past two months, he has learned of doctors who successfully perform alternative treatments and take a more holistic approach to treating cancer. They are treatments that won’t cause severe blisters in his throat or cause him to lose his saliva glands. Treatments that MAY save his life! These treatments are not covered by insurance, Medicaid, or any other financial aid that could be available.

At this time, we are uncertain of everything Robert will be needing over the next few months, but we do know that any holistic treatment he seeks will not be cheap and he will have to pay for them up front and out of pocket. He needs our help immediately so he can start treatments right away! He will also need help getting to doctors appointments and picking up his medicines.

Creating this page has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to do! Not because it was time consuming or a burden to do, but because of the sadness and helplessness that I feel for a man that I deeply care about and want to help in every way I possibly can. If you know Robert then you are already aware that he is very independent and would never want to burden anyone by asking for help. He would never take it upon himself to create a "Go Fund Me" page or ask anyone to help him financially because he would not want your pity or to trouble you with his problems, so I decided to create this page on his behalf. He has always tried to figure out solutions to his problems on his own and would rather give of himself than take ANYTHING from anyone! He is a selfless man who served his community for over 10 years as a North Myrtle Beach Police Officer and Fire Fighter. Since then, he has dedicated his time to helping others by introducing better nutrition in their lives to help people heal from the inside out. He has a heart for God and for helping others and never asks for anything in return. I have been told by his family and childhood friends that he has been a kind and giving person since he was a small child, but I can personally attest to his kind and generous spirit as I have witnessed and experienced his love, friendship, and selflessness for the past 18 years. He is the kind of man who will drop anything he is doing to help another person in need. Money and material things mean nothing to him. He treasures his relationships with family and friends, and he looks to God daily for direction and comfort.
