Hi I'm Rosco & I need your help getting to Forever Home Rehabilitation Center in Virginia Beach! I have a ride, but it costs $1500 to get in. I'm not physically injured, just emotionally traumatized, which is almost as bad. I'm a fearful, unsure, and anxious boy who gets easily overwhelmed and then unpredictably reactive to new people and situations. I've been in foster care for 9 months, living with 3 dogs and chickens in a busy home office environment. Foster care has been good for me in many ways; getting me out of the shelter, mastering commands, learning boundaries, and socialization to name a few. We’ve realized I need more constant help with new people/place/dog socialization. I am highly reactive to strangers (growling, barking, lunging, jumping), sometimes even reactive to people I have met before. I have food & space possession issues (which could easily evolve into aggression), I’m territorial (excessive barking/growling, thankfully no biting...yet) and continue to get easily overwhelmed. I sometimes challenge the dogs in my foster home over food, space and toys and my foster parents over space and food, though I have learned to share toys with humans. I'm a growling expert (not one of my best qualities).
I can be really smart and sweet, I just need more constant structure and guidance than my foster home has been able to provide so I can get back to being a well-balanced adoptable dog and find my forever home. Oh boy do I want to let go of the past and find my forever home, this anxiety business is exhausting!
I'm an adorable medium sized American bulldog/terrier mix, about 5 years old and 50 lbs. I was surrendered to Peaceable Kingdom Inc. in Whitehall, PA in 2014 by my original owners. I'm a very scared little boy, so the stress of the shelter environment took its toll on me. Luckily, I've been in foster care since the summer of 2014.
