On April 10th, the Alley Cats are competing in the 1st Annual OMDE & Snap Inc. Bowling Tournament!
As the competition comes closer we will be fundraising for our beloved charity, School on Wheels. www.schoolonwheels.org
School on Wheels’ mission is to reduce the gaps in the education of homeless children from kindergarten through grade 12. SOW provides each homeless student in the program with a volunteer tutor who meets with them every week to help them with their education. The mentorship and guidance these tutors provide gives these kids support and hope at their most sensitive and difficult time -- education can give these young people the tools they need to escape the cycle of poverty and hopelessness, and can give them the self-worth they need to realize their potential. Most of OMDE employees tutor and we try to support the organization in several ways.
The statistics on homeless children are staggering - 1 in every 30 American children will go to sleep tonight without a home. With over 163,000 children homeless in the school districts served by School on Wheels in Southern California, it is more important than ever to help their mission.
