OLV School 5th Grade Camping Trip

Aloha,
My name is Danny Ballesteros and I'm the 5th grade teacher at Our Lady of the Visitacion School in beautiful Visitacion Valley, San Francisco. I come from the great outdoors of Kona, Hawaii and realize the importance of outdoor education and teaching conservation and preservation. My hope is to raise enough money to take my 26 fifth graders on a 3 day educational camping trip to the beautiful Point Bonita YMCA in the Marin Headlands. It will cost $143 per child. The trip is scheduled for April 30- May 2nd. Our first deposit of $1,000 is due on Feb. 1st with the remaining balance being due on April 16th.
Please help us achieve our outdoor educational goal. For many of us it will be our first time camping. What an experience it would be for all of us! Do you remember your first time camping?
The Point Bonita Outdoor and Environmental Education program brings science to life! From pond studies to plant walks, they help youth discover that science is more than what they read about in books! They inspire wonder, curiosity and the desire to learn more about the world. All of their programs are based on California State Science Standards and are tailored to meet the individual needs of participating teachers and students.
Hosted by their naturalists, these programs incorporate hands on learning, team-building challenges, community service and adventurous fun. Through living, learning and enjoying the outdoors together, students discover their connections to science, the natural world, and each other. Every program is tailored to the students and teachers they serve, and each curriculum is designed to reinforce classroom learning. This program incorporates hands on, field-based research and service learning projects including but not limited to sand crab monitoring, water quality testing, and habitat restoration.

Students at Our Lady of the Visitacion are encouraged to develop their innate talents so that they will grow and mature not only physically and intellectually, but also emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
