On July 13, 2017 I'm shaving my head for baby Daxton... Please take a moment and read this story about this sweet baby boy. Every little bit helps. Mahalo ~Riki, Malama Day Spa
The Story
In late October 2016, the Ashley and Bruce Olson family welcomed baby Daxton to their energetic household and the little man was deemed healthy and happy. Three months into his short life, little Daxton was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. The type of tumor (classified as Astrocytoma) has been a mystery to his medical team at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Medical teams from around the country have also been mystified at this particular type of growth.
While initial tests proved inconclusive - doctors currently believe the tumor is growing at an extremely slow rate - the Olson’s and their new baby have a long road ahead. Daxton began a 15-month chemotherapy treatment plan in February 2017. The treatments take the family back and forth from their coastal home in Seaside, Oregon to Portland on a weekly basis. Other ailments have already complicated the process even further with extended hospital stays on two separate occasions.
In addition to Daxton, the Olson’s have two other elementary-aged children. Ashley and Bruce are small business owners - running a successful tile and masonry businesses with a handful of employees – and handle all of the day-to-day operations on their own. Needless to say, their lives have quickly been turned upside down in a mater of weeks and meeting the demands of their business and mounting medical bills is slowly becoming a major concern for them.
The Olson’s have insurance, but travel costs and keeping up with a slightly slowing workload because of time spent away from the business is making life a bit more complicated. The family is extremely prideful of their Seaside and Coastal roots and has loved helping others in our small community. It’s now time for us to lend a hand to the Olson clan. Malama Love for Daxton and Dimes for Daxton is a small gesture that can help insure this family is able to keep up with all of their bills while giving as much attention as possible to their little guy and two other children. The family is extremely thankful for all of the thoughts, prayers and good vibes you are able to send their way.
