On December 29th Olivia and her family received the unexpected and devastating news that her Leukemia has returned after being in remission for 2 years. Her new diagnosis of MPAL is different this time, as it is a combination of two types of Leukemia: AML and ALL. Her treatment will include an aggressive combination of chemotherapy, radiation, and a bone marrow transplant.

The type of cancer Olivia has requires intense chemotherapy that started immediately upon arrival to Alberta Children’s Hospital. The doctors have estimated that she will be hospitalized for at least 6 months, the date that she will be able to return home is unknown at this time.

With her parents by her side she is currently receiving her first round (22-44 days) of chemotherapy treatment. A second round of chemotherapy and radiation treatment will be needed to prepare her body for a bone marrow transplant.

Right now it is impossible to know the physical, mental, and emotional stress that this diagnosis will bring to Olivia and her family. Our goal is to provide Olivia’s parents with the necessary financial support for them to be able to concentrate wholeheartedly on supporting their daughter with her brave battle against this aggressive disease.

Every contribution, no matter what denomination will go directly toward the many costs that come with this diagnosis such as medical and caregiving bills, travel expenses for treatment, living expenses and subsequent follow up visits after treatment. Your generosity can make a tremendous difference for them during this time.
