Hello. Brendan and I are Olivia Benson’s human parents and we’ve had our wonderful dog since we rescued her at 12 weeks old and she is our family. She has a wonderful warm personality, as everyone who’s met her knows. However, she’s always been very skittish when it comes to loud sudden noises. On Sunday August 26th, her dad took her on a quick car ride to get breakfast and she was sitting in the back seat like she normally does window halfway down - enjoying the vibes like they’ve done multiple times. A truck passed by filled with scrap metal and hit a pot hole causing an extremely loud noise as they were passing. This caused Olivia to jump so vigorously that she managed to jump thru the open window while the car was in motion going between 30 to 40 MPH. She hit the cement hard and rolled. Thankfully that was the extent of the accident itself. However, she sustained multiple injuries including two staples to her leg and the most serious being a punctured lung. She ended up requiring a surgical procedure called ‘Autologous Blood Patch Pleurodesis’. There was never any question that Brendan and I would pay for whatever treatment she needed on the spot. However, the total amount comes as a financial shock as our living situation dictates. We would never normally ask anyone for any financial help if it wasn’t for a very serious cause like this. Any small contribution you could make, we would be eternally thankful for and Liv would be as well. If there’s any money leftover, we will be donating it local pet charities. Thank you so much for your time, consideration, and hopefully your help. Brendan, Kim and Olivia Benson.
