Oliver Sparks needs surgery!

Donation protected
Update: My heart is in a million pieces.. Sadly, Oliver did not make it through the night. As Oliver's parents, Shelby and I had to make the tough decision and decide what was best for Oliver. We were not at all prepared to say goodbye to our sweet boy. However, it wasn't fair to continue putting his body through all the procedures when it became evident we would just continue on this cycle of support care. Oliver is at piece now. Even though as Oliver's parents we feel that we should have done more, we know that we did everything we could to give his body a fighting chance. Please respect our decision and understand we had Oliver's quality of life in mind when making this decision. We cannot thank everyone enough for their support and donations made on Oliver's behalf. We paid $2,000 out of pocket at the beginning of all of this after moving around some bills. Then, we got introduced to Care Credit and out $2,000 on that as well. We don't know how long we can continue to move things around while paying for this so we still need your help. Oliver has truly inspired us to continue to care for these sweet rescue pups. Though we are not ready for that, one day we will share the same love we got to share with Oliver while he was with us. That being said, we have decided that anything we receive above our goal amount will be donated to local shelters and clinics here in the Quad Cities to help other pups, and parents hopefully before they have to experience the pain we have experienced today. There are no words for the amount of love and support that Oliver has received this last week. He was one special pup. Again, thank you all for everything. We hope you consider donating in honor of Oliver. Original: After adopting Oliver from New Beginnings a few months ago, we knew we found our new best friend. Oliver fits in perfectly with our noisy and busy lifestyle, and has had no problem keeping up with us. Sometimes he even seems to have more energy than we do. Oliver was born as a tripod, so he has never known any different. He plays, and acts just like any other 2 year puppy would.  When we first got Oliver we found that he had a couple medical issues, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 2 year pup who hadn't had the care he deserved. We got him all the medications he needed, but seemed to still be fighting a cough. Luckily, two weeks of steroids made him feel better and we were on our way to a life full of playing non-stop fetch. Anyone who knows Oliver, knows he is always wanting to play fetch. So when we came home last Monday and he didn't want to play fetch we knew something was wrong. Tuesday morning he got sick after eating so we took him to Care Animal Clinic. They ran some test and decided that Oliver was showing signs of Anemia. He got some fluids in him and a few steroid injections that afternoon and we took home some medications to continue the treatment plan at home. Wednesday morning Oliver was starting to feel better and was playing fetch with us every chance he got. Thursday afternoon, he started acting tired again so we kept a close eye on him.   Friday morning I came home for lunch and found Oliver in almost the same position I left him that morning. I rushed him back to the vet. They ran some bloodwork and determined that Oliver would need a blood transfusion. At this point we decided to do whatever it took to get our Oliver back.  The transfusion went great and Oliver responded really well to it. Friday night his numbers looked great, and through Saturday he was still perky. We got to visit him every chance we got and he seemed to be getting much better.  Today though, Oliver took a turn for the worse. His numbers dropped again, and his gums became very pale. He does not have any energy to stand, and barely lifts his head to greet us. We do not want to lose our best friend overnight, so we have transferred him to the emergency vet. He is currently receiving another blood transfusion to bring his numbers back to normal. Tomorrow we hope to do some more testing to figure out what his causing this issue. We have done everything we can so far to keep this little guy with us. At 2 years old, this guy is just starting to live his life of non-stop fetch. So far, these procedures and blood work have really taken a toll on us financially, and this is just the beginning. We need your help to bring our fur baby home. Anything helps, and we appreciate everything you guys have done for us. Please keep Oliver in your thoughts and prayers. We are not ready to say goodbye. We are not done playing fetch with you, Oliver. Stay strong buddy. You are such a good boy!
