Old Musician with AIDS Needs Your Help

Donation protected

Dear reader,
My hero, Mr. Rogers, once said, if you are in trouble, "Look for the helpers".

My name is Denny Hall, and I'm a songwriter starting out at the tender age of 63 but in poor health—dealing with major problems related to full-blown AIDS and fibromyalgia and more—while having to live on a very small government disability.

And so I need help so I can make more new, truly original music for you and the world, and finish my life's works before time runs out—I have 58 songs completed which need to be arranged and recorded, and I'm doing ALL the work so it's a lot. Plus there are future expenses of music costs, alone.

LISTEN HERE to "SONGS FOR THE ECLECTIC" — 8 truly original songs https://www.dennyhall.net/

These recordings show what I can do with just a piano, with no studio tricks to hide behind—NO auto-tune!  One song, "A Little Dream of Blue", took more than 100 hours to write (yeah, I'm a recovering perfectionist!)

The amount suggested is for music-related expenses to start doing fully-arranged works where I do all the parts, percussion, backing vocals, etc., buy the necessary sounds and post-production costs, etc.

You can read more about me and my work, below, if you like, but to end, I’d be eternally grateful if you can help out. And I'd ever so grateful if you'd share this GoFundMe or my music with your friends, on your social media or with those you think might like my works—thank you in advance to the helpers! Take good care.

Musically Yours, Denny Hall.

MORE DETAILS
I've had a difficult life so far—always been poor with no help from others so I taught myself how to play the piano on school pianos. I have given my life to music, and am devoted to making the best music I can, not the most money, so music has required a lifetime of poverty in order to make the best music I'm capable of.

So I've never owned a car or house or had a nice vacation or had the finer things in life. I am finding, though, that in my senior years, poverty weighs harder on me although I'm grateful to live in my crappy apartment in subsidized housing on a very small government disability and have access to a food bank.

For 40 years, I have produced a demo every decade, each ignored, and since music recording companies won't help me, and I've to learn how to do it all, myself—lyrics, music, vocalist, techie, producer, audio engineer, manager, website designer, etc., etc.

I've spent $30,000 on music hardware and software, made about $700—in my whole life—worked for free at many benefits, and lost a million dollars in wages to give me time to write music. In future, there are more costs, hardware and software, and since my songs are so varied in styles and genres, I will need to buy sound sets that, alone, will end up costing thousands.

My full-blown AIDS diagnosis was a dozen years ago (I cratered at a CD4 count of 75), and since then my friends have all died and my family abandoned me even though I'd helped them me a lot over the years.

Then I had to work through four addictions, C-PTSD, anxiety disorder, chronic depression (a dozen years of physical abuse as a child will do that to you), major dental problems and way-y-y too many other things to list. Each day is still a struggle with fibromyalgia and living in pain with limited energy to get work done.

I live in Toronto in a dumpy apartment building in a unit too small to make much art. I've had 15 bedbug infestations and daylight doesn't scare my cockroaches. (Read my blog about how I finally got rid of them once and for all, easily and cheaply.)

A mouse couldn't survive on streaming revenues so I hope my listeners will support my efforts in to make more music. For you.
