Ellen O'Brien's Fire Loss Fund

Yesterday my dear friend Ellen O'Brien, whom many of you know, lost everything she owns except for the clothes on her back due to an electrical fire in the walls of her apartment. Thank god she and her dog Sparky were out for a walk when the fire destroyed her entire apartment. She does not have any rental insurance, but, in typical Ellen fashion, she is staying extremely optimistic.
Ellen moved back to NYC two years ago to pursue her career as a jazz singer (after putting her career on hold and moving back to Boston to help a sick relative.) She and Sparky slept on a friend's couch for 14 months as she performed in clubs, tended bar and taught singing lessons. She finally saved enough money and found an apartment to call her own. This past year has been wonderful for Ellen; she was making it in NYC!
Ellen is the type of person who would rather be helping than be helped. Ellen didn't have a lot, but she needs to replace her piano, computer, furniture, clothes, as well as housing for Sparky. So anything helps! Thank you in advance for your donations.
