I have set up this campaign on behalf of the less than fortunate children that I have met in my travels with my friend.
My name is Cynthia, and after several trips with my friend Gloria in 2017, we decided to set up an educational fund for less than fortunate children and youths in Africa. So far we’ve been supported by friends and families, friends of friends and families, who have helped us raise until date £1169.
In May 2017, after spending a day with the youths and social workers at uMthombo Street Children, we realised that we could make an impact in helping to raise not just awareness, but acting to help anyway we can.
Agreed, it seemed insurmountable, where do we start, how do we start, how do we remain consistent in our efforts with such full lives. What was certain was I could not un-see the smiles of the children.
These smiles I wondered if it was because they were unaware of their situation or if they smiled in spite of their situation. The depth of their smile I cannot explain but the image stuck. So much so that it became a personal endeavour for both Gloria and I to help raise funds with more educational scholarships.
We succeeded in our South African campaign. Now, we need to raise money to help children in Nigeria by not only funding the start of their education, but sustain the cycle by helping them STAY in education.
An African saying I hold close to my heart states " A Child is a Child for EVERYONE ".
