Officer Gallegos Memorial Fund

It is heart breaking to have to share the news that our brother, our friend, Armando Gallegos, a Veteran of the United States Navy and 13 year Correctional Officer for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation succumbed Friday, September 14, 2018 to injuries he received in the line of duty.  Armando was a good partner, a great friend, and most importantly of all, a loving husband to his beloved wife. Our goal here with this Go Fund Me account is to try give back to Armando’s family who has lost a man that gave so much of himself in the service of others. 

 Armando first committed himself to serving the public in the United States Navy, retiring after years of dedicated service to his country.  Service as a Correctional Peace Officer with CDCR began August 2005.  He graduated from the Correctional academy and reported to work activating Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP) in 2006.  Armando worked and spent time on every facility at KVSP earning the respect of countless peers who all have a fond memory to share.

Armando and his partner were brutally attacked on April 21, 2018 while attempting to deescalate a resistive inmate on a minimum security facility.  The resistive inmate and 12 others attacked and battered Armando and his partner to the point Armando lost consciousness.  Armando had been off work dealing with treatments due to the extent of his injuries since the date of the attack.

In the line of duty, we sacrifice a piece of ourselves mentally and physically each time we enter the beat we are working.  Officer Armando Gallegos has made the ultimate sacrifice. Collectively, lets work together to ensure Armando’s family’s needs are met during this tragic loss.
