Dearest mates & comrades, firstly, I want to thank you all for helping me on this wild ride!

For those who don’t know me - my name is Ames, and in just under 2 months I will be having gender affirming surgery. Anyone who has seen my face when I have talked about this surgery, can vouch for what it means to me.

To explain a little for those I haven’t shared this with yet - for around 20 years now, I have attempted in a multitude of ways to live with this body I own, and have continually found myself faced with challenges to this. Over these last years, and thanks to so many dear people around me, I have come to the understanding that I have hit a wall in how I can be present in myself, and by extension, be present in the world around me, and in my community. I know that this surgery will be a huge step towards releasing a lot of accumulated tension, gender dysphoria, and allow me to live beyond my current limitations.

I was hoping to pay for the most part myself, but due to a head injury in April and the subsequent 6+ months of being unable to work, I have had very little opportunity to save all the money needed. Postponing the date of the surgery would be a huge blow, after finally getting this close. I personally find it hard remembering, that being part of a community, also means asking for the support you need, and that unlearning my stubbornness towards letting people care for me, only means I can learn to care for others better. We are all un/learning right?

And so, I am asking for any help possible with paying for the cost of the surgery and supporting physical treatments to help with my recovery. Any help, in whatever way is accessible to you, be it sharing this gofundme online or telling loved ones, or donating, is hugely fucking appreciated!

I firmly believe that all gender affirming care should be accessible and free for all trans people. As should everyone be in full access of the autonomy over their own bodies, without boundaries or gatekeeping.

Until all trans healthcare is free and accesible. Until all have full autonomy over their bodies and minds. Love A x
