For the past twelve years, the school has undertaken this visit and this year; amongst other students I have been lucky enough to be selected to make a difference.
The trust is the centre of a busy community development centre from where a determined effort is being made to make a real contribution to the new South Africa. In response to a range of rural needs an increasing number of programmes and projects are located under the umbrella of the Goedgedacht Trust. As a student I will be working with the youth groups within a broad programme organised by the trust, interacting and supporting local underprivileged children and undertaking construction activities in the local area to support the community.
Once chosen on this trip, we are required to raise £2400 to pay for travel and accommodation whilst working with the Goedgedacht trust.
As bike fanatics, my father (Dave) and I (Tom) have always wanted to do a significant bike challenge. We both felt that raising money for the trip would provide us with the perfect opportunity to take on such a challenge. Daringly, we have decided to cycle from Anglesey to Cardiff, 253 miles within 4 days in the spring of 2019. As trail riders we did not want to complete this on road, therefore we have decided to take on an off-road route; making the cycle all the more challenging.
The lead up to the ride will be well documented across our social media platforms. We are truly thankful for all donations we receive.
