Of the Water - Short film

Hello all!

I am raising money to fund a short film I (Annie Kane ) am directing, titled "Of the Water".  I have a script locked and a crew confirmed to shoot in mid July. I will use the funds that I raise for production gear, costumes, and special effects.

This film is a meditation on sexual trauma and the healing process. Through sleek and metaphorical imagery, my goal is to construct the violating and emptying pain survivors of assault endure and also the strength women channel to survive. The style of the film is a cross between neo and magical realism.

Logline: Mid 1700s. Mia, a mermaid currently in human form, washes up injured and alone on shore. In her quest to find her way back home, Asa, a fisherman, crosses her path. He takes her to his house to treat her wounds. When Mia realizes a dark fact about Asa, she must find her way to freedom before she dries up on land.
