'Oddities' Cross-Country Photo Trek
After 4 long years I can finally say,
"I've beat the Big C - Cancer." I win!
A year of pain, chemo, hospital and doctor visits was followed by 3 years of PTSD and now I'm cancer free!
Hi, I'm Frank and I'm an award winning commercial and fine art photographer.
In that first year of my battle with cancer almost 4 years ago, I was unable to work and fight the cancer too, so I had absolutely no income. I quickly went through my savings. The dreadful financial circumstances demanded that I give up a place to live and to close my photography studio.
Good friends and family helped me with places to live and money when they could. I applied for early Social Security and found that it's not enough to actually live.
Photography is my life!
As a photographer I've exhibited in one man shows and group shows across the country and have been published nationally.
This summer, as I approach 65 years of age, I plan to travel cross-country on my photographic 'walkabout' as I call it. I've come full circle so I'm headed for new adventures! I need your help to get through it!
This trip, 'from sea to shining sea' will lead me to the east coast. You can put the west coast in the boy, but you can't take the east coast out.
Philly is my home town, it's where I grew up. Some of my oldest and best friends are there. The ones I have history with, care about, and love.
That is not to say that after 40 years here in Oregon that I don't have people I love, care about and have history with, but sometimes the heart drives decisions.
And it's not to say it's my final destination. I'm leaving that open as well as a time line to get east and stick my toes in that 'other' ocean. (The one with all the dead fish in it. lol.)
Cancer has made me realize many things, most importantly that we aren't here forever and we all need to work on that bucket list, to feel needed, wanted, loved, and hugged. And I have gotten my share while living here in Oregon and Portland.
So this trip from West to East comes as a long needed break and a celebration of living through cancer.
