Summit County Astronomy Observatory Expansion
Tax deductible
The Fairlawn Rotary observatory has been well used and is self supporting for operating expenses from visitor and member donations. We are now planning to double to size of the observatory. The existing building was built for 5 telescopes. Currently there are seven in the building getting a lot of use. The new addition will move four scopes into the new building, add one significant telescope and create space for a classroom in the existing building.
The observatory developed a safe way to open to the public and has been a great resource for the community. We have had long lines with 7 telescopes in operation.
Our goal is twofold: Create curiosity in youth and a great family recreational experience.
