Cash Dharamsi

We took Cash to the hospital on Feb 24th because he was being very lethargic and could not stay awake. During our 7 day stay at Chippenham hospital, they found an infection that had gone septic and had treated it with antibiotics. But even though the infection was being contained, he had some other issues that would not go away, mainly fluid retention, Lactic Acid levels and Clotting factor concerns, to where they decided to move him to the Children's Hospital at VCU(downtown Richmond). They thought that if the swelling continued, it could place pressure on the kidneys and Chippenham did not have the equipment necessary to treat it, so as a precautionary act, they transferred us.

When we got there, Cash was looked at by all the specialists the next day and the GI doctor had some concerns about his liver and suggested that we transfer him to a location that had liver treatment experts. That completely blindsided us as we never heard that that was a concern before; but once we were able to process the news, the doctors got to work quickly to arrange the transfer. Our choices were Children's of Philly, G-town University or Children's of Pittsburgh. Since we have close family in Pittsburgh, and came to find out after the fact that Pitt is one of the premiere hospitals for Pediatric Liver Treatment, we decided to come to Pittsburgh.

Andrea and Cash were taken by Helicopter from MCV to CHP.

Upon arrival a lot of test were conducted to see if they can pinpoint a diagnosis, Some of the doctors have already been by and given their initial thoughts, but nothing definitive yet.
