Oakley's road ahead.

Many of you may know this face from being such a handsome baby and the sweetest lover boy... For those who don't recognize this face, this is our baby, Oakley. Oakley is my sister Caitlin Sheehan's baby. This dog is her entire world, sidekick, and best friend. He is her superhero. We are sad to announce that our baby, Oakley, who is just 3 years old, was recently diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma. As many people know, he is the sweetest, most loving, and most good boy. We are devastated by the news and trying to focus on the next steps for getting him better. Oakley has a long road ahead of him, and we are just trying to stay as strong as we can for him.

Oakley had to undergo a 5 rib-resection as well as a mesh wall installed to work as his new chest. During surgery, he lost a significant amount of blood which required him to get a blood transfusion to save his life. After the surgery was completed, he had to get a plasma transfusion to help repair the red blood cells that were lost and damaged. He is now stable and being put on 24/7 watch in intensive care at UW-Madison Veterinary Clinic.
