Oakland Special Hockey Tournament

Donation protected
The Oakland Special Hockey team is a fantastic group of hockey players who need help attending the National USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Tournament!

The Special Hockey program is designed for players with physical or developmental disabilities, and emphasizes an inclusive, "Can do!" approach to hockey. We focus on team-building and skill development and aim to foster a sense of accomplishment and pride in our players. The program is supported by the Oakland rink and San Jose Sharks, which donate ice time and equipment so that players can participate at very little cost to their families.

The donations made through this campaign will support our travel (hotel, flight, transportation) costs for attending the National USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Tournament held in Chicago, IL, in April of 2018. This tournament brings together hockey players of all abilities, not only Special Hockey but also Sled Hockey, Blind Hockey, Deaf/Hard of Hearing Hockey, Warrior and Standing Amputee Hockey. The Oakland team attended this tournament last year held in San Jose, CA, and it was truly the highlight of the season. We bonded as a team, learned about sportsmanship, and got to experience the exhilaration and excitement of playing against other teams. This tournament gave our players a goal to work towards, and we are doing our very best to make sure we can have as valuable of an experience again this year.
