The Center State Stampede 16U Team, with players from all over Central New York has been awarded a berth in the USA TierII National tournament and is seeking funds to offset expenses associated with attendance of the tournament in Plano, Texas.
The Team was formed 6 years ago with a vision of emphasizing character and skill development rather than wins and losses. With a stated goal of finishing each season "at .500," great effort was put into creating a game schedule that was neither too easy nor too hard, so to match that vision.
After 5 seasons the Stampede decided to "go all in" this year, declare itself a candidate for post season play, and put its skills on display in a larger arena. This team played in a National championship caliber schedule, was ranked as high as #18 in the country (at one point beating the #1-ranked team) and was the runner up in the recent New York State Amatuer Hockey Association Championship tournament, thus earning us a spot in the National Tournament.
The team is now asking for help in completing what they've sometimes referred to as their "graduate thesis" in what could be it's last year together.
