Welcome to Liam's fundraiser!
Liam is a beautiful 18 month old boy who was born into a big loving family, with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy occurring at birth. He has a twin sister (Shea), an older brother Sean (8), and an older sister Mackenzie (11). His parents are Mike and Katy; this loving family works hard to cover their living expenses, but the costs that come unexpectedly with raising a child with special needs can often be overwhelming.
Liam is a miracle child who survived a precarious start and has gone on to exceed expectations, with more amazing achievements in store! His current diagnoses include hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, encephalomalacia, spastic quadriplegia, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and GJ tube dependent. In layman's terms, Liam has to struggle against his muscles to do the things physically that most of us take for granted, and he is not able to eat through his mouth.
Along with special needs come special doctors, special equipment, and special trips. Liam travels to Boston, Massachusetts to see some of these special doctors, and this month alone has 3 visits! Boston from his families home in Portsmouth, NH is about 65 miles in one direction. Taking into consideration Liam's 3 other siblings, a family vehicle that needs some special work of it's own, and the distance and frequency of trips like these, it's easy to see how quickly a family can be overcome with financial strain.
We are raising money to purchase a reliable van for Liam's family; something that is safe and spacious enough for the whole family, and sturdy enough to get Liam where he needs to go! Help us, and make a difference in the everyday and long term life of this amazing family.
