KATHY'S STORY.................
CANCER IS A BATTLEFIELD ....
WE NEED TO FIND A CURE
Kathy King walked for YOU in the Weekend to End Cancer and Run for the Cure on many occasions never imaging she would fall victim to this dreadful disease. On the very first walk she did with friends she said " One in five women get cancer - it could be one of us".
Kathy and her husband Tommy came to Canada in 1975 had four children, then after 11yrs returned to their native Ireland. They spent 11 yrs there, then returned to Canada with her then 6 children. Anyone that knows Kathy knows she is a beautiful person both inside and out, with her calm, extraordinary love and caring for children. She is my best friend and would do anything for anyone.
Kathy started to do daycare in her home then went on to run her own Daycare Centre, 'Stepping Stones' with approx+ 30 children. She closed the daycare centre and with her husband Tommy took on a new challenge, Foster Parenting, providing a loving environment for needy children that are either temporarily separated from their parents, or waiting to find adoptive parents, treating those children as if they were her own.
Under instruction from the Children's Aid Society, Kathy picked up 'Angel', a 2wk old baby, from the Sick Kids Hospital. Angel was fighting for her life with a heart disorder. Tommy and Kathy, instantly loving her, fought alongside her and she is now a healthy happy little 3 year old. The King family decided to adopt Angel. One month after adopting Angel, Kathy found out that after five years Cancer free - the Cancer has returned.
Kathy, never one to back down from a challenge, is determined to fight Cancer - she did it once - she'll do it again! Kathy would never ask directly for help, but we will. Team BBC are directing our fundraising to help Kathy, her treatments are NOT all covered. We ask this not only for Kathy but for all the forthcoming foster children desperately needing her help and Love.
