Help 3-year old Roman with brain tumour

Donation protected

This is our son Roman. He is 3 years old. In december 2011 he was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour called a craniopharyngioma. The tumour is made up of a small solid part and large fluid filled cystic parts which put pressure on surrounding brain structures and damage them. He has already lost the majority of his eyesight, requires various hormone replacement medications and is starting to struggle with weight gain.

So far Roman has endured two operations to try and drain the cysts thus releiving some of the pressure on his brain, the second of which was unsucessfull. He is due a third operation in the next few weeks which will be open brain surgery to again try and shrink his tumour as much as possible. This could have yet more risks and side effects, we can only hope and pray everything goes to plan.

After this Roman has to travel from the uk to florida, usa for proton beam radiotherepy. This is where we are having to ask for help. The trip will be for ten weeks and as this is such a critical time in his and our lives we would all like to stay together as a family. Roman has a younger brother at 16 months and an older brother at 9. We need to raise enough money to keep us all there for that amount of time, especially as i wont be getting paid for taking the time off from work. Any money we raise which doesnt get used will be donated to the paediatric ward at the qmc hospital in nottingham where Roman is receiving such excellent care.
