Intro:
The New York Times College Scholarship Program has helped put scores of students through college. Since 1999, the program has given New York City high school students who have overcome hardship while reaching academic excellence four-year scholarships as well as mentoring and internship opportunities at The New York Times Company. Read more about the 2018 scholars here.
Direct Impact
The New York Times College Scholarship Program is a natural outgrowth of the long-standing commitment of The Times to fostering a well-informed society.
We strongly believe in the lifelong benefits that a good college education can impart, and we are pleased to be able to assist and encourage promising students seeking that opportunity.
The scholarships are for students who have a sense of social purpose and a wide array of personal ambitions and are integral to our belief that a strong college education imparts lifelong benefits.
Since 2015, each award recipient receives a four-year college scholarship for a maximum of $15,000 annually to attend any nationally accredited four-year college to which they have been admitted for full-time study. Funding comes from public contributions and an endowment fund, supported primarily by a gift from the Starr Foundation.
