On May 11th, Ayla and Willow Martin are hosting the 4th Annual 7-Mile Barefoot Walk!

The Nyaka organization has had an enormous impact on our lives, many thanks to YOU- our friends and family around the world who have believed in our work and motivated us to keep going!

For those of you who haven’t followed our work with Nyaka, The Nyaka Project works on behalf of HIV/AIDS orphans in rural Uganda through a holistic approach to community development, education, and healthcare.

Ok, that’s a mouthful- basically this means that with our donations, kids in Uganda get an education, healthcare, food, shelter, and clean water. And we get to make friendships with people across the world. Each year our passion to help Nyaka plays out a bit differently.

And this year we have two goals in mind...

Goal #1: To continue sponsoring our amazing friends in Uganda-  Rosette, Stydia, Brian, Rhina, Judith, Andrew and Mercy

Goal #2: To visit the Nyaka village and meet the children we sponsor! We know from Jackson, the Founder of Nyaka, that for the children of Nyaka School, meeting their sponsor is something that they only dream of! Coincidentally- that’s OUR dream too! Jackson has been encouraging us to come to Nyaka ever since we met him.  He says, “Anyone who visits Nyaka will forever be advocates of others because they will have seen, touched, and walked with their brothers and sisters in rural Uganda.”

In the first letter we ever received from Rosette 3 years ago, she told us that her dream was to see an airport. Not to fly on an airplane, or even get on one, but to just see the place that can bring to you, the person that you most want to see! Our dream is to make her dreams come true - along with the other six students we sponsor.

Three years ago, we founded the Nyaka Clubs at Singapore American School, one in the Middle and one in High School. Willow also proposed that the high school have a week long interim trip to Nyaka Village and it has finally been approved and will happen in the spring of 2019 for 20 SAS students- and obviously we are really hoping it will include us!

Since Willow will be in 12th grade and Ayla will be in 9th, this the only chance for us to go on this school trip together!

However, we need to raise our own money in order to be able go, and unfortunately, we cannot get a job in Singapore (something about work visa?) so we’re counting on you!

Please support us in this year’s 7 mile barefoot walk to continue sponsoring these seven students and to help US get there together-  to visit them! We promise to continue to working hard for this effort and hope that you continue to believe in and support our efforts! Thank you, Thank you!!

See below for a recap of the work we have done for Nyaka so far... Thanks for your support!
