Harvest School of Missions
LOVE "“ It is a small four-letter word
that will cost you everything: laying down your life, passion and compassion,
giving without expecting, feeling His heartbeat and surrendering to His rhythm,
and following the Lamb wherever He goes, even to Mozambique.
Dear friends and family,
I want to share with you a challenging and
life changing ministry opportunity that God has presented to me in Pemba,
Mozambique. I am planning to attend the Harvest School of Missions, which is a
three-month training school (October 1st
2012 to December 6th 2012)
focused on raising up a new breed of missionaries who are fearless, laid-down
lovers that know a love that has no boundaries and are ready to run into the
darkest places of the earth to minister to the lost, poor, and broken. The
school combines
teaching, prayer, and worship with everyday application to
ministry among children and the poorest of the poor. This school is
located in Pemba, Mozambique, one of Heidi and Rolland Baker's ministry bases
run by Iris Ministries. At the base I will be trained by
Heidi and Rolland Baker along with numerous other international missionaries. I
will also spend time learning from the Mozambican people and children who are
cared for at the ministry base, which to me are the most valuable teachers. I
desire to die more to my personal comforts and gain a deeper understanding of
God's miraculous love for His creation. I desire to live, love, and learn from the
poor and become more grounded in the two greatest commandments: Love the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and love your
neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22: 36-40).
During the three months I will be engaging in
evangelistic outreaches to unreached local bush areas where we will be
witnesses of the gospel, praying for the deaf, blind, and crippled. I will also
gain understanding on how to minister cross-culturally, become practically
equipped for the physical challenges of third world nations, live with hundreds
of children, experience the Father's heart, and serve in jails, hospitals,
orphanages, and housing projects. God is calling
His sons and daughters to go and make disciples of all nations, that all the
nations of the world would know Him and encounter His love. My heart is
cascading with love for everyone, especially those deemed as the lowest by
society. I have been serving locally at food banks and soup kitchens in my city
and I desire to see my fellow brothers and sisters understand their value,
worth, and the deep love of Christ. I'm so excited for this opportunity to
encounter God in an international setting!
As you can imagine, a
trip like this requires both financial and prayer support from many people. I need
to raise $6500 by August 2012! That means that only 65 people need to donate $100 each or 130 people need to donate $50 each. That's it! Regardless, any size donation helps! This cost covers flight, room and board, local
transportation, a diet of basic African cuisine, vaccinations, supplies, and
books for the school. Will you join me in this journey
through financial and/or prayer support? If you would like to be part of this
mission through financial support, then you can donate on this page! I will
receive your donation to my PayPal account so it's safe and secure. I pray that
this letter shows you a glimpse into my heart and my passion to love people
with the love that Christ has shown me.
With love,
