Grit2Great takes on new meaning for baseball team
The Clark College Baseball team, their families and the community were not ready to walk away after receiving the disheartening news that their program had been affected by the COVID challenges and canceled for the 2021 Season. For most of these players, this is the second time they have been given this crushing news in the last 12 months. Fortunately, the players are being given a chance to continue their dreams and aspirations to further their academic and baseball careers by playing as an independent program outside of Clark College. The coaching staff has tirelessly been working to put together a robust schedule against University and College programs.
Even though canceling the season has not been received well by the players and their communities, the players have not been discouraged and continue to work hard not only in the classroom, but on the field, practicing as the NW Stars Penguins.
This GoFundMe is being set up as a way to provide players financial assistance to offset the associated costs of registration fees, equipment and travel costs that will allow these players the opportunity to compete as the NW Stars Penguins. This endeavor will need the support not only of the coaches and the families, but that of the community.
This effort to salvage the 2021 season will provide the players the opportunity to showcase their abilities and talents against collegiate teams as well as the additional opportunity to be viewed by four-year programs that would have otherwise watched them during the regular season. For some players, sports programs provide them the avenue to educational opportunities that they may not be able to afford otherwise.
