Nurse Nikki

Nikki is a registered nurse who recently transferred to our department in the hospital. It is difficult to put into words the kind of person and nurse Nikki is. She loves being a nurse and every person she comes into contact with during her work day can see how much she loves her job. Within the last couple of weeks Nikki has had symptoms which made her go to the doctor. To the suprise of everyone in our department as well as Nikki and her family, Nikki has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Despite her wanting to come to work, she has not been able to work since her diagnosis. Her future at this point in time is not predictable. Despite her working as a nurse in a hospital, her insurance still will not cover many costs of the imagining, frequent specialist office visits and most importantly....treatment! Unfortunately, there is no cure but medication infusions will be given to try and slow the disease progression. Nikki is a wonderful mother of two children and works along with her husband to support her family. Before her diagnosis Nikki was also trying to sell her home to better her environment for her family. Nikki has been forced to put her entire life on hold due to symptoms and having to figure out how to manage her new and life changing diagnosis. Our department has chosen to come together to do as much for Nikki as possible and reach out to all our friends and family to do our best to help Nikki. She gives to everyone she knows without hesitation and is one of the warmest hearted nurses I have ever met. Please help us help Nikki. Thank you!
