Scott-Arthur's Memorial Fund

Scott-Arthur Allen, founder and lead coach of the Creative Actors, has not only encouraged and helped thousands of his students, but every person he comes in contact with. I've spent a lot time with Scott. I've seen it first hand. He can't walk through a studio, a film conference, a grocery store, a gas station without connecting with everyone he passes. Within moments he as them laughing or pouring out their life story and proceeds to encourage them to keep up the fight. He understands everyone is fighting a battle, some more silent than others...

It is breaking my heart to say that Scott is coming to the end of his own battle with prostate cancer. He is now in hospice health care. We are all grateful that he is able to spend this time in his own home with his loved ones caring for him.  His wife Elizabeth and his young apprentice Kelsey are Scott's caregivers. The hospice nurse and bath aide are scheduled to visit once a week each.

It saddens me to think that Elizabeth and Kelsey have to keep teaching classes through this time. They are unable to take time off to be with Scott when he needs it most. Being small business owners they are unable to stop working without taking a crippling financial loss. You can't imagine the financial burden that 13 years of fighting this disease has caused. Scott also had open heart surgery in 2006 and many hospital visits since then...and of course I would hope Elizabeth and Kelsey could have time off to grieve when Scott does move from this realm to the next...

Another need for this campaign is for the wonderful memorial that this amazing man deserves. Where we will all celebrate all that he as done for us and remember what a caring man he has been. Until that day comes, we are all cheering Scott on through this fight and following his progress on CaringBridge:

Elizabeth and Kelsey have shared with me some of the letters and messages that have poured in this week. It's clear that Scott has taught thousands of people not only about acting but also about love, leadership, faith, and life. He encourages and inspires every soul he meets to be the best they can be, and he can see what that better version looks like before they can see it, or before they even believe it is within them.

Scott is a true light. He is a blessing to countless lives and his legacy is being transferred to Elizabeth and Kelsey. All three continue to pour out their passion to edify, love, and serve every single student and friend. Please join me in supporting this family during this trying time. Give what you can and let's make it possible for them to spend this time together...

I'd like to share one letter a student posted of Facebook today. Thank you Andrew Long for saying the things we have all tried to put into words:

"Please keep one of my dearest friends and mentors Scott-Arthur N Elizabeth Allen in your thoughts and your prayers. Scott is in the last stages of prostate cancer and my heart is breaking as I write this. Scott is an unbelievable human being in which God has blessed so much. He has touched my life in more ways than one, and for that, I am eternally grateful! Scott is a believer in Christ and knows that he has peace through this difficult time because he won't have to endure this pain much longer. Man, this is hard to type. I wanted to publicly share a sincere thank you to him because unfortunately he doesn't get the thanks he deserves...and he has taught some greats in Hollywood and all over the country and Canada. Scott, you have always believed in me, even when I couldn't find the strength to believe in myself. You have shown me what and how a true gentleman and a person should act and behave. You have shown me how a Christian must walk; you have shown me that God put us on this earth to do great things. He has given us a wonderful mind, with a conscious and a sub-conscious, and by finding our inner being by faith, commitment, and hard work, we can do incredible things! Something as little as "letting go" can have such a major impact on not only an actor's performance, but in any walk of life. I Thank You so much Scott for believing in me, working with me, giving me scenes each and every week that stretched myself and my abilities farther than I knew I could stretch them. Thank You for being my Friend. From the bottom of my heart, I love you sir, and I pray that God will give you peace through this difficult time. I know you have prepared for this time for a while now, but know this. You lived a life to glorify God and through the talents and gifts that He has given you in your life, you sir, have left a legacy, far more than you ever dreamt of. The creative actors are in great hands moving forward, led by your ever-loving wife Elizabeth and future legend Kelsey Shryer. Scott, there will come a time soon where you will finally "let go" yourself, and it will be hard for so many of us that you personally touched our lives, but I pray for strength and courage for those people, and know that you will be cheering us on from the greatest stage...Heaven! I hope that one day, I become half the man you were Scott! I love you Brother! God Bless!!!"

So you understand, my name is Nick Herra. I am a long time student of Creative Actors. I have also worked as an intern for Scott, Elizabeth, and Kelsey's production company. They are family to me. I felt moved to start this campaign for Scott, Elizabeth, and Kelsey. All donations will go to them directly so that we can all aid them in Scott's final care and the wake of when he does proceed to the next step in his journery. Thank you.
