MY STORY

I’ve been a self starter all my life — always involved in learning about ways to help myself and others financially, emotionally, spiritually and nutritionally.  I have spent my entire life acting from the point of view that “God helps those who help themselves.”  I take great pride in being self-reliant.  This orientation has turned out to be really helpful in dealing with setbacks and in getting started again afterward.

When I was twelve years old I was crazy about baseball.  Growing up in a large city I was always playing some kind of ball; stoop ball, box ball, stick ball, curb ball, baseball etc. and I prided myself on being a good player and on having a great throwing arm.  One day my best friend Dicky and I discovered just how far old shingles could be thrown.  An old house was being torn down in the neighborhood and shingles were in ample supply.  If anyone has ever thrown shingles, as a kid, they will immediately know what I mean when I say, “they really fly!”  After a few launches, I let one go and this was the one, a perfect throw it was going to break all distance records.  I couldn’t believe how quickly it was climbing.  I turned my head to yell for Dicky, so he could watch it too and was immediately smashed in the head by a shingle he had just thrown.

I was in shock as it hit me directly in my left eye.  The shingle penetrated all the way through my eye into the optic nerve.  Sadly, needless to say I lost my vision in that eye as my eye had to be removed.  At the age of twelve, I was introduced to a life with limited vision and no depth perception.  I’ll tell you one thing it really puts a damper on your baseball dreams.

Fortunately, I was also introduced to something precious, something I’ll never forget, as it was so helpful, freeing and healing me.  It was forgiveness.  I felt it in my heart.  When I was laying in that hospital bed my five brothers all came to see me, they and my entire family were devastated and extremely upset. You can imagine what my brothers wanted to do to Dicky.  I stopped them and explained to them something that was very obvious to me, Dicky was suffering as much as I was.  I knew in my heart how close we were and how hurt and devastated Dicky was too.  Thankfully, they realized that what I was saying was true.

This event cemented my dependence and orientation on self-reliance.  Not surprisingly, when I was diagnosed with cancer four years ago, I did not embrace the traditional path of cancer treatment including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, since the prescribed treatment would be damaging to my body with no guarantee of a positive outcome.  Instead, guided by my life experiences, instinct and my heart, I began to seek out less invasive therapies to heal my mind and body.

Walking away from traditional medicine was not an easy path to choose nor was it an instant solution to the health challenges I was facing.  As I proceeded to discover, understand and seek out alternative treatments by researching copious amounts of data, I found many alternative modalities promising great results.  Although I tried many alternative therapies including herbal supplements, hyperbaric oxygen chambers, vitamin drips, sound and energy healing, bodywork, electrical stimulation,  Rife machines . . . (the list is endless), nothing seemed to be working and the cancer continued to grow.   After a few years of disappointing test results regardless of the efforts I was making, I realized I needed serious medical intervention and guidance.

After researching medical clinics throughout the world, I found a clinic called CHIPSA that offered a very different healing model. The clinic utilized cutting edge medical treatments including low dose chemo agents combined with alternative healing methods to enhance and strengthen my body’s ability to heal.  The clinic was costly and my medical insurance would not cover their unconventional treatments. Although my wife and I realized that the treatment at CHIPSA would likely wipe out our savings, my health was worth the risk.

Using our savings and borrowing from friends and family, I managed to raise enough money to receive three weeks of grueling treatment.  Those three weeks challenging, exhausting and fraught with physical aches, pain and discomfort.  I was nauseous, shaking, drenched in sweat and unable to keep any food in my body.  As the days passed, I became stronger and had fewer physical symptoms.  Miraculously, I am grateful and feel blessed with my results:  one tumor was reduced by 50% and a second tumor has begun to disintegrate. The rewards of my physical discomfort was evident.

Unfortunately, I need more treatment in the next three months to maximize my results and establish myself firmly on the path of healing.  I’m turning to you for your help because I don’t know what else to do or where else to go to raise the money needed for my healing journey.  The staff at CHIPSA suggested a GoFundMe page might be a way to raise the money needed to continue my treatment since several of their patients have used it to obtain the treatment they so desperately needed.

Your contributions will allow me to focus on getting better without worrying about the costs of treatment.  Our gratitude for any help you can give is immeasurable.  Any donation is gratefully appreciated.
