Help Max Beat Cancer

This is Max. My name is Angela, Jon is my other half and Max is our 8 year old chihuahua/pug. In short, Max is a snaggletooth, tripod chug with the biggest personality, an adorable head tilt, a passion for football, skills for twirling for treats, and a serious attachment to cuddles (with anyone). He's been a part of the family since he was just old enough to rescue. He means the world to our family and has become a major part of our lives.
Max has been a healthy, happy pup his whole life, until we found a malignant lump under his left arm. They diagnosed it to be a soft tissue sarcoma cancerous mass. After vet and canine cancer specialist visits, a whole lot of research on our end and many talks with friends and family, we decided to go ahead with a removal surgery. In order to remove the entire mass, we had to amputate his front left leg. The whole process seemed to be so much more traumatic for us than it did for Max. The surgery was successful and Max bounced back really quickly. It was almost as if he hadn’t notice a change at all.
To keep him healthy and attempt to prevent anything from coming back, we immediately changed his diet to a home cooked recipe created specifically for dogs with cancer, supplemented his meals with canine vitamins to keep his immune system up and stayed hopeful, yet alert.
About 4 months later, we found another growth on the left side of his neck. This was tough news to swallow. With Max's quality of life a priority and his longevity in mind, we finally made the decision to surgically remove the mass and treat the area encompassing both mass locations with radiation. This decision came at a very high cost, so we did what we could and applied to canine cancer funding foundations. The Mosby Foundation and The Riedel and Cody Foundation were gracious enough to help us pay for almost half of the treatment costs. We really couldn't have done it without their help. So with his strength and resilience, Max got through it successfully, recovered pretty quickly and the tests thankfully showed no sign of cancerous cells or metastasis. Even though this took a lot out of us, emotionally and financially, we were glad that we were able to do everything we could to help Max fight cancer and thrilled it was all over.
Two months later (about two weeks ago) we found another mass around Max's lower lumbar on his right side. Our oncology specialists have concluded that this is another soft tissue sarcoma that has grown independently from the last two masses. This news weighs on our hearts once again. Even though our instinct is to do whatever we can to fight his cancer, the last two times have left us emotionally exhausted and financially incapable to cover more treatment costs.
So Jon's 13 year old sister, Giannina, thought we should come up with a GoFundMe. She thought with a little help, we could get back on our feet and continue our fight against Max's cancer. To keep Max around longer, we need to give him a CAT Scan and surgically remove the mass as soon as possible. These treatments will end up costing us $5,500. We aren't the most comfortable asking for help this way, but with our pride aside, any support would mean the world to us, to Max and Max's family.
