Kirk's Rare Cancer Fund Fight.

On July 28th, 2015 my cousin Kirk was diagnosed with Stage 4 Bile Duct Cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma) which is inoperable. The cancer is in the gall bladder, liver and lymph nodes. This is a very rare terminal cancer. Kirk moved to BC a year ago where he bought his dream home and continues to live there by himself. Kirk is a Remote Paramedic and is self-employed. Because of this he does not have any insurance or disability benefits available to him as he goes through treatment and due to his illness he will not be returning to work. On January 21, 2015 my Auntie Pam (Kirks mom) suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and had to be flown by air ambulance for emergency surgery to Saskatoon Royal University Hospital and remained there for 6 weeks. She is from Tisdale, Saskatchewan. On June 17 Auntie Pam had to have a stent put in to close the rest of the aneurysm off. On June 27 she had 3 brain bleeds from having the stent put in, which resulted in her having seizures and she had to be flown back to Saskatoon by air ambulance once again. As you can see, this family has suffered a lot in a very short period of time, both emotionally and financially. All funds raised will go directly towards helping with costs due to Kirk’s cancer treatments and care expenses, and to assist the family who lives in Saskatchewan, with any urgent travel that may arise as he fights this terrible disease. Kirk wants to continue his fight with cancer in BC. If any funds are remaining they will be donated to cancer research. There is very little known about Bile Duct Cancer as only 2000-3000 North Americans will be diagnosed with it each year. Thank you for your generosity and kindness.
