On behalf of the Volunteer Firefighters of Nosara, known as Bomberos de Nosara, and on behalf of the entire community of Nosara, we would like to express our deepest thanks and gratefulness to each and everyone of you who made this GoFundMe an amazing success! Your money will be wisely invested on helping the families touched by the floods of October 5th, by buying new appliances, helping to rebuild homes, and wherever help is needed. This worldwide support is a balm to the heart of our families, knowing that they are not alone in the face of adversity.

In Nosara Costa Rica, predictions, after last year's flooding due to a hurricane turned tropical depression, was that October was going to be a lighter month of rain.  Very little fell in September.

This morning many residents woke up to pictures and messages from neighbours and firefighter coordinators that help was urgently needed to rescue several people from their flooded homes.  In some cases, people had tied themselves to posts to avoid being swept away in the stormwater.  Emergency rescues began in the middle of the night to save several from flooded homes including those who's house is completely underwater water in this picture.

By 9am the Nosara river has almost crested the Rasta Bridge and several roads are impassable, due to flooding or mudslides, making evacuations difficult.

This picture doesn't look that bad but if you've been to Nosara you will know that from the road below crossing the river to the gas station is about 20 feet deep!

High tide is at 11am this morning and more heavy rain is imminent.  Please send prayers, love, and if you are able, funds to help the victims of flooding.  They have lost everything in a few short hours.

All funds raised on this Go Fund Me campaign will be directed by the Bomberos who are determining where it is most needed. If you are in the area, food essentials, water, hygiene products, and baby formula/diapers are urgent and can be dropped with Surfing Nosara or La Bodega.
If you donate directly to the Bomberos, please ensure that "Nosara Flood" appears in your subject line.

Thank you!
