Hi! We are a team of final year architecture students from Newcastle University doing the design and build for this project.  In partnership with Northumberland Wildlife Trust, we are aiming to improve the visitor entrance area at Northumberlandia land sculpture, Cramlington. Over the first three days we have already raised an amazing amount and we would love to keep up this momentum.

We are raising funds to build a pavilion that will greatly enhance the visitor entrance to the site. The design will provide a sculptural, timber seating pavilion. Alongside this, information on Northumberlandia herself, surrounding wildlife and more. We envisage that the structure will accommodate a range of outdoor activities such as classes for school children, workshops and performances, transforming the site into a vibrant social hub for the community.

Under the current, difficult circumstances, getting outdoors has proved an essential part of maintaining physical and mental wellbeing for so many of us. For this reason, Northumberlandia has already experienced a rapid increase in visitor numbers. This can also be attributed to its accessibility; the site is located just off the A1 and has free parking as well as wheelchair access. You can find out more about Northumberlandia here: https://www.northumberlandia.com/?doing_wp_cron=1604665403.4248220920562744140625 . The pavilion will cater to this collective renewed interest in nature by encouraging people to continue to enjoy outdoor activities.

We have obtained planning permission and would like to build the first phase of the structure this winter, alongside volunteers who work with Northumberland Wildlife Trust. However, due to the ongoing complications of Covid-19, we are now experiencing difficulties achieving the funding needed to realise the project to its full potential. This funding page is hoping to raise funds needed to deliver this first phase of development at Northumberlandia.

This pavilion will be greatly beneficial to the local community, providing a better visitor experience as well as improved opportunities for interpretation and education. Thank you in advance, any donations will be greatly appreciated!
