Bring Back Food-As-Medicine Program

NorthStar Clubhouse is Portland's mental health recovery program and peer support community where adults with mental health challenges in the Portland metro area develop work skills, learn to cook healthy meals and find purpose.

At NorthStar, we love to learn about and make healthy food! Our Staff and Members value health and wellness education as an integral component of our program and everyday lives. We believe a holistic approach to health means recognizing the value of nutrition as medicine for our minds and bodies to reduce stress and improve well-being. That’s why NorthStar Members want to bring back the Food as Medicine Everyday nutrition and cooking series.

Without your help, we don't have the funds to bring back this wonderful program so NorthStar Members can benefit from it.

Here’s what the FAME program, a hands-on nutrition and cooking series from the Food As Medicine Institute will give NorthStar Members:

- Increased knowledge and understanding of nutrition
- Reduced consumption of sugar, sodium and trans fats
- Healthier weight levels through a nutrition-based approach to weight loss
- Reduced stress
- An improved sense of well-being
- More confidence in the kitchen
- Commitment to cooking meals at home
