North Wales Digital Drive

Having a computer has become vital in the current COVID-19 crisis, but not everyone can afford to buy a machine.

To help combat the digital divide and support school children to continue learning at home during these unprecedented times, we started a refurbishment programme.

While the country was getting to grips with WhatsApp, FaceTime and Zoom, a significant section of our community did not have the means to access services that were rapidly becoming essential for remaining connected to the outside world.

The devices donated have been life-changing for the individuals and families within the communities of North Wales. Children have continued their education; individuals could communicate with friends and family online and get essential items delivered to their door.

Schools have now reopened; however, we still need your help to bridge the Digital Divide in North Wales and help those pupils, families and individuals in need. With your help, we can reduce social isolation and open doors for them to communicate, educate and become connected with the outside world.

Perhaps you received new laptops, tablets or mobiles for Christmas or you may have old devices you don't need anymore?

We accept any unwanted desktops, laptops and tablets that you may have at your home or business. We ask that the machines have a Windows 7, 8 or 10 operating system and a working keyboard and screen. If you still have the charger, we will need that too.

We ensure that every piece of technology donated is tested and securely wiped.

Could you help us to help others in need?

The local community's response, has been amazing and for that, we have been so grateful, but we still have outstanding requests for laptops and machines that require more time and more parts to refurbish them to a good standard.

To ensure our impact is sustainable and can continue, we're now looking to crowdfund this project - to fund the upgrading of parts such as hard drives, memory, and, if needed, replace faulty components such as keyboards, screens, and chargers.

Just £30 could help us securely wipe, update, and refurbish one device that will go directly to a young person or family in need, in North Wales.

Thank you for your support to date, and we hope you can help us to bridge the Digital Divide in North Wales.
