North Miami Beach Police Officer needs a new heart

North Miami Beach Police Officer Jerry Hamilton has worked the streets of our city for over 23 years, courageously protecting our citizens.  Our brother in blue is now in need himself.  Jerry, age 48, was recently transported from Aventura, Florida to a hospital in the Tampa, Florida area in critical condition.  According to doctors, he is need of a new heart.  His only son, Brandon, 23, has been at his side but is scheduled to leave for the Air Force later this month.  Jerry has no other family members, with the exception of his brothers and sisters at the North Miami Beach Police Department.  The members of this fine police department have volunteered their time to travel, at their expense,  to the west coast of Florida to remain at Jerry's bedside until his procedure is completed and he can return home to South Florida.  The timeframe is still unknown.  We are kindly asking anyone who would like to contribute to help offset the costs of the lodging, food, and gas expenses of these police officers and other members of the North Miami Beach Police Department. We would be forever grateful.  Any contributions remaining would go directly to any medical expenses not covered by Officer Hamilton's medical insurance. 

We have had North Miami Beach Police Officers with Officer Hamilton since his admittance last week and are currently setting up a rotating schedule for the remaining days necessary to ensure that Jerry is never alone and always has a family member by his side, while so far from home.  If you can donate, it would be greatly appreciated. This go fund me page has been started by myself, Kelly Watkins,  on behalf of Officer Jerry Hamilton's brothers and sisters in blue at the North Miami Beach Police Department.  All funds will be deposited directly into a special account set up on Jerry's behalf by the Police Officer Association Trust (POAT).  The funds will be utilized to reimburse the lodging, food and gas costs of the police officers and other members of the North Miami Beach Police Department who travel to be with Jerry.   Any remaining funds will go towards any medical expenses not covered by his health insurance.
