Kathy Chiluisa and Leticia Crespo have started this Gofundme page with Noemie’s approval to help this champion, nurse, Autism mom and overall incredible woman get back on her feet while she is combating this rare medical condition that has burned over 97% of her skin and organs. We appreciate all of your help and prayers for Noemie.

This is her story in her own words:

“My name is Noemie I am a mother of 2, one of 1 year old and 2.8 month old with Autism.

In late November I developed a rash that lingered and became worse I was diagnosed with eczema, then MRSA and was on antibiotics and a high dose of prednisone.

The Dermatologist treated me then for scabies with high doses of prednisone, oral and topical anti-mite Because of the inflammation and itchiness i spent Christmas at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

My skin condition was getting worse and worse. On 1/1/2023 I woke up burned from head to toe I tried to treat myself with fresh aloe vera and cold showers. A few days later my skin started to fall off and peel.

On 1/7 after showing pictures to my PCP she sent me back to the dermatologist who sent me urgently to yale hospital suspecting Steeve Johnson Syndrome. A very rare syndrome that causes your body to sustain third-degree burns. At the emergency room all tests and biopsies came back positive for SJS with TEN.

I was immediately admitted to the MICU. The pain and suffering that I went through is nothing compared to even giving birth. The fire on my skin and within my organs was difficult to stabilize. I was put on morphine and then Dilaudid pumps PCA.

I spent all month back and forth in the MICU. Until this day even though I am home with my family, the doctors said it will take 6 months to 1 year to fully recover.
I became susceptible to certain food that flares me up.

I cannot be in the sun.

There is no cure for SJS but I survived it when my prognosis was poor per the Yale dermatology team.

Because of this experience I developed PTSD. I have been doing psychotherapy to manage my panic attacks that started occurring after this hospitalization.

It has been very difficult to even take care of my kids and to even simply hold them as my skin is still burning.

I have been spiritually healing which has helped me tremendously.

I am a woman of faith, and this experience has brought me back to GOD as I was originally. I appreciate your prayers and willingness to help me and my family on my road to recovery.”
