Noah James Dream Trip To Italy

Noah James has been through 3 1/2 years of Chemotherapy at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Noah was 9 when he started treatment for Leukemia. He was in the very high risk stage. He began with chemotherapy treatments immediately. He had a surgery to remove his appendix and put in a port. He had a very rough first year from very strong treatments and a bout with the Norovirus and pneumonia that had him on an oscillating ventilator for over a week.
During that time in the PICU he developed HLH which required more chemotherapy for treatment. His kidneys stopped producing urine and needed dialysis for several weeks. We spent most of our time in the hospital for many months.
During Noah's treatments, he dreamed of things he might like to do when he felt better. He talked about many different things, like Disney World and meeting Will Smith. His love for Italian food and social studies class influenced his desire to see Italy. It was wonderful for him to have something to dream about and look forward to doing.
Now Noah can make his trip. We need funds to help with his dream trip. We are going in June and we need to book tickets soon. He is physically capable to make this trip, so we want to get him to Italy so he can see the sights and in his words "eat the food". I guess after 3 1/2 years of chemo eating is a top priority.
The entire family is very grateful he had a dream he could look forward to which would take his thoughts off of his current conditions and help him focus on a brighter future. We will make Noah's dream trip come true. If he wanted to go to the Moon, we would try to find a way. No one should have to go through what he (and many other children) has been through. Noah has insisted that his entire family go on this trip "because we all went though this together", so he is getting his wish.
Noah missed a lot of school and needs some tutoring. If there is money leftover from the trip it will go to help him catch up with his classmates and with physical development.
Thank you for helping Noah James. Noah has a funny personality and he likes to make people laugh. He is an outstanding child that is kind and caring for others. The near death experiences he had, has made him an Old Soul. Let's send him on a trip that he will never forget.
