FROM VICTIM OF HOMOPHOBIA TO US SCHOLARSHIP

Noah is a Christian friend of ours who lives in Kenya. He studied theology, was a brilliant student and worked after graduation as a pastor and a chaplain. However, in 2010 it became known that he was gay. Noah lost his jobs immediately and his Evangelical Quaker church excommunicated him overnight. Since that time, his life in Kenya has been difficult, with severe economic hardship and frequent homophobic attacks from former friends, colleagues and close relatives. At present, no meaningful job opportunities are available to him in Kenya or anywhere in East Africa. At times, he has been homeless. Recently, Noah has been awarded a scholarship for pursuing a three-year Master's Degree in theology in the USA starting August 2nd. The institution is Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, Indiana. On completion, this degree will provide Noah with job opportunities in different countries, enabling him to create a better future. Noah has passed the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scoring 102 points out of 120, and his student visa for the USA has been granted. At present, Noah needs to raise USD 3,000 (EUR 2,500; GBP 2,150) to cover all costs. This amount includes airfare from Kenya to the US ($900, EUR 750), the university deposit ($1,150; EUR 975) and a number of other expenses including health certificates, a suitcase, renting a room in Kenya until late July 2021, ground transport in Kenya and the US, travel insurance, etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Noah es un amigo cristiano nuestro que vive en Kenia. Acto seguido, perdió su trabajo y su iglesia procedió a excomulgarlo.
