No More Room for Veterans
Hello, My Name is Michael Madore, and I am a proud son of a WWII veteran, a community leader, and a lifelong resident of the town of Millinocket, Maine, and we have “no more room for veterans”.
The community of Millinocket, Maine is sending out a unique “Call to Arms” for help in honoring our servicemen and women. In and around 1987, some 30 years ago a veteran’s memorial was erected to honor those from our town who served in the United States Military. The names of veterans from WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam were proudly carved in stone tablets and placed in our Veteran’s Memorial Park. Sadly, our monument is full. The front and back of our memorial Tablets can hold no more names though brave men and women from our community continue to serve, and therein lies our problem. Currently there are _2040_service men and women whose’ names enshrine the existing tablets as a testament to our military alumni. I am attempting to raise the necessary funds to expand our memorial so that we may continue to thank those who have served in the Armed Forces since the Vietnam War.
But, I Need your Help.
I am trying to raise $30,000 dollars to refurbish and expand the existing memorial and bring the names of deserving service personal up to date.

Millinocket is a community that has seen tough economic times during the last 20+ years. We have lost our major employer (Great Northern Paper) and with it thousands of jobs. Our population has dropped from a high of 9,000 by half to a current level of 4,500. Our average age as a community is 51 years old and our average income has dropped significantly over the same time period. Our mill has been torn down and our economy decimated. Our local veteran’s organizations have seen dramatic drops in membership due to the passing of many of our older veterans and are unable to raise the funds needed to undertake this project alone. So I am reaching out to you to see this tribute to our veterans become a reality. Our veterans need your support and financial contributions to make this happen. All donations, whether personal or corporate are welcome and no amount is too big or too small to help make this project a reality. I have done a preliminary design to help visualize how the addition will look with the help of your unselfish donation to this worthy cause. I would like to start the addition in the spring of 2018. Please help me show our Gratitude to the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and say Thank You to them for eternity in stone.
